R1 Tourism Summit 2024: Promoting Sustainable Growth and Peace in Tourism
Last Friday, September 20, 2024, tourism stakeholders gathered at the J & V Hotel in San Fernando, La Union, for the R1 Tourism Summit 2024. Held in celebration of World Tourism Day and National Tourism Week, this year’s summit centered on the theme "Tourism & Peace." The event brought together key players from the tourism sector to discuss the latest trends, share insights, and build valuable networks aimed at strengthening the tourism industry across the region.
One of the highlights of the summit was the focus on the role of Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) in driving sustainable tourism development. As one of the core pillars of this movement, MSMEs were provided with valuable strategies and an in-depth understanding of how they can contribute to sustainable growth. The discussions emphasized how tourism can thrive in La Union and the surrounding provinces by embracing sustainability, which is essential for long-term success.
The summit served not only as a platform for learning but also as an opportunity to connect with other tourism stakeholders, fostering collaboration and innovation. A special thanks goes to the Department of Tourism Region 1 for the invitation and for facilitating such a meaningful event. With a shared commitment to promoting peace through tourism, the event marked an important step in Chad’s ongoing advocacy to support the region’s growth and sustainability. #chadsadvocacytohelp
